Summary of March 2017
I'm writing this because I can finally look back what happened to me in March.
March is basically the first month of me staying in Switzerland.
It is my first new born month.
It is the month in my life which I became a baby again but with a 17 years old body and mind.
I couldn't understand the language, I couldn't speak the language, I couldn't think about what was I doing, I couldn't help but cry when it came to a point.
Exactly like a baby.
I would be happy if someone said Hi to me or smiled to me. I would be happy if there's food, I would be happy if I learned soemthing new, I would be happy if I was strong enough to stay positive even though it was a bad day.
Again, excatly like a baby.
It is the month I must learn how to use my common sense to live my my daily life.
My friend asked me once when we had lunch. How did I manage to understand something if I didn't understand the language. I loved this question. I didn't even remember to ask myself that but she did. I told her, I just used my common sense, looked at facial expression, observed the body language, listened to the voice tone. Yes, that was what I did. Maybe it sounds dramatic or unrealistic, but I believe if you ask any exchange students, they will probably answer you the same.
It is the month I need to pay 120% attention to understand at least a bit of daily conversation.
I know the German words and simple sentences. But when it comes to real life conversation, I realised the things that I had learned are extremely not enough. And different people has different accent and tone when they speak. People don't talk with the voice and the speed of the examples of online course. It was really difficult at the start. That is my daily challenge until now.
It is the month I tried out new things that I never thought I will do it in my life.
Snow-shoe hiking! Lunch with mountain views! Having friends from around the world! Understand some German! It would be an endless list if I state it one by one.
I'm not good in writing long paragraph. That's all for this post :)
Thanks for reading!
