Simon allein zu Hause 12 April 2017
It is great if you understand German but if you don't know, never mind! I will explain to you what happened during the night, the party and my classmates.
The title 'Simon allein zu Hause' was the group chat name when we had this party. It means Simon is alone at house.
One day in March, Simon (a boy from my class) invited the class to his house on 12th of April 2017 since he would have a BBQ party. I was so excited when he wrote it in the class group chat because I wanted to go. But I wasn't sure if he invited me or not because I was still new to the class and I was very shy. I asked in the group chat if I could join. The answer was yes. Now that I think back, I sounded so stupid omg. I wanted to get close with the class so badly at the beginning because I had literally no friend at first. A party is totally my chance to get closer with them.
When I was back from Hasenmatt, I had no much time to rest. The party started at 5.00. I took a quick shower, gathered my BBQ food and went there. I couldn't find his house at first with the help of Google map. I asked a neighbour who was passing by. I actually did have a conversation with this neighbour in all German. Of course, my bad German. At the end, I found the right place.
Simon has a nice house, I admitted.
Gabriel came to the door and leaded me in.This made me quite confused. I couldn't remember their faces very well, boys look almost the same for me. So, for one moment, I thought Gabriel was Simon, the host. Not much people were there when I reached. As I sat down, Gabriel asked me if I want something to drink and I said yes. At the time he went to get me a drink, I seriouly confused. Who was the actual host? I asked to myself. At Malaysia, the host will always take care of everything. As what I know, Gabriel and Simon are very close to each other. So, I assume they didn't care that much about who served the guests. Should I call this as culture shock? I have no idea.
When I got my Eve and had some sips of it, I instantly regret for what I did. Alcohol was reacting very fast in my body because I had an empty stomach. That's what I forgot, never drink when I am hungry. I stopped immediately and listened to what were they talking about even though I didn't understand.(they were speaking in Swiss German) (Eve is an alcoholic drink with 3% of alcohol in it)
The night went well with nice music playing at the back. The sun set slowly whwn they were playing football at the front yard. I enjoyed listening to a language that I didn't understand at all during that time. It was fun for me to observe their face expression and gestures when they talk. But it reminded me of my best friends too. I had my favourite sausages and chocolate banana. I continued to drink my Eve after my meal.
I finished my Eve before Lucia, Sara and Dana arrived. (finally I finished it hahahah) Then, I knew I ate so many chips while listening to them. More people came afterwards and that's when it looked like a real party. They played a game with a ping pong ball and several cups of beer. I don't know what's the game called, I'm sorry. And that's one point which I missed my best friend like crazy.
I really like a small home party like this. Nice food, favourite music, and the presence of the people that you are close with. Simon lives in a big house which the rooftop is also a place for people to chill and talk. Boys were up there on the roof talking and sometime laughing. GIrls were just sitting on the sofa and talked.
Before I went back with the last bus to go home, I used the toilet and the most hilarious thing was I locked myself in it!!!
There was a key inside the keyhole. I did lock the door before I used it just like any normal people will do. But after I had done everything and decided to unlock it, the key just didn't work. After a few try, the key still didn't work as usual. I knocked the door continously with the hope someone could actually listened to my knock. 2 minutes later, I started to feel scared. I had to get the last bus or else I would need to stay over for the whole night and took the earliest bus. It wasn't nice at all if I stayed over without having the permission from my host parents. I hit the door with my palm, I tried to kick the door to make louder noise. My luck wasn't that good when the big window beside me couldn't be open like a door. 3 minutes left until the time I really had to go, I was nearly crying. I didn't know what else could I do other than shouting Simon's name and banging the door although my hand started to feel numb.
I heard outside, someone noticed there was people shouting. And I shouted as loud as I can. Just like a miracle, Simon came and I passed him the key through the slit under the door. He helped me to open the door and I got out of the toilet.
The moment I stepped out of the toilet, I wanted to bump into a hug so desperately but there's only boys around me when I got out. I kept my fear and tear, plastered a smile on my face. I told them I had to go as I grabbed my bag. Aniella offered me to stay at her place as she lives at the street next to Simon's house. That would be reaaaaaaaally nice if I stayed. But I must be responsible. So, I went home. Of course, I said goodbye to them.
I was walking alone in the dark, remaining the pace of my steps as fast as I could. Eventually, I arrived at the bus stop 3 minutes before the last bus left. Phewwww. Gabriel wrote me, if I missed the bus, I could just walk back to them. He was such a nice person. And the story came to the end, I took the bus at 12.17am and reached home safely.
I think it was quite interesting, how could I be so dumb and locked myself. I still laugh to myself when I write this post. What an exchange life!
Smile and shine :)
