Basel

Second time in Basel! I think I won't get tired of coming to Basel because it's too beautiful! This time I came the Malaysian exchange students. I will call them as my Malaysia squad below (It sounds cooler, isn't it?). I remembered Marvin was the one insisted to visit Basel and the squad made this trip. We came to this Spalentor first as it was on the recommendation list of Marvin's host father.

The Spalentor

The most magnificent and impressive of the 3 surviving entrance gates to the old city, which date back to 1400.

You maybe think there's nothing special of going through this old gate. But there's exactly the point. Go to the place, see it with my own eyes, amaze it with my heart.

We walked from Spalentor to Rathaus and then to the cathedral. I forgot what does this building called but it is located at somewhere near the Barfüsserplatz.

He's Marvin! Lighted up a candle in the Basel Cathedral.

The must-do thing when you come to this cathedral: go up to the tower and have a glance of Basel from the top

Jessie and Enson are afraid of height, so coming up was a great archievement of them! Take a selfie and keep it as memory! It was a chilly morning though, especially when we were on the tower.

"We are scared!"

This was the pointed roof of the highest tower
I could buy this picture as a postcard but I captured it myself

Mittlere Brücke
Opened in 1226, it is one of the oldest Rhine crossings between Lake Constance and the North Sea. The bridge is one of the signature of Basel. Credits to : Tack (our Thailand exchange friend who lived in Basel)

The corner of 3 countries!
Each corner of this tower points to 3 different countries, which are Germany, France and Switerland. France is just across this river, you can literally walk to France or Germany.

We walked across the bridge and we were at France!

We didn't know the name of this place but we knew it was France.

I learnt my leason on this day. It was a sunny day, so I was wearing a long-sleeve t-shirt and I brought a jumper wth me just in case the temperature went down suddenly. But I didn't feel well after lunch which was unexpected by all of us. It was cold and windy when we walked to France. I still feel cold even though I was already wearing my jumper and scarf. Marvin lent me his ski-jacket since I could not bare with the cold anymore. But trust me, IT WAS SUCH A LOVELY SUNNY DAY. I think I was quite ill because I needed to hold on someone's arm in order to walk properly in the strong wind. I felt better after we went back to our own city. That was the first time of me being sick in Switzerland. It's not such a memorable moment but I just cannot forget it.

Lessons learnt:
1. SUNNY DOES NOT MEAN WARM.
The importance of layering clothes in Spring is equal to the time of me checking my instagram.
2. FRIENDS ARE FAMILY.
I have a friend who lent me jacket when I was sick. I have friends who would hold me when I was going to fall. I think everyone deserves friends like that.
3. WATCH OUT FOR THE FOOD
It didn't feel good at all when I was sick. I'm going to be so careful before I eat.

thanks for reading! :)
